Panoramic photography, and especially the super wide photos produced from panoramiccameras have always inspired fascination. As in normal human vision, the rotating shutter slit reproduces the entire extension of landscape, interior architecture, the gentle curve of a river, incorporating all that our eyes see before us. With panoramic photography, dimensions begin to interact and as a result, heighten their effect on each other. Perspective lines lead from foreground to the horizon: the castle on the square, a cluster of trees in a field, the relationship of a river bank to its surroundings; in essence, the panorama which our eyes see is duplicated by the camera. However, what is the magic of these photos that captivates us so? The feeling of width? An undistorted photographic rendition of what we have seen? Perhaps simply the chance for the photographer to both see as well as photograph a true rendition of a scene. And, unlike "conventional" photography, the ability to record these scenes without having to discard what the eye truly sees. With the appearance of Noblex cameras, photographers began to have the ability to creatively experiment with various formats, multiple exposures, and the rise of a lens for help with parallax distortion. Once thought of as strictly a landscape tool, the Noblex has evolved into much more than this, bringing us the ability to capture not only these breathtaking scenics, but portraiture, still life, in short, anything the eye can see. |

How Noblex Cameras Operate: All Noblex Cameras operate the same way. Noblex Cameras are "SWING LENS" cameras, that is, the lens is recessed into a revolving drum, which rotates a complete 360 degrees. During the first half of this revolution, the lens is hidden from view. Also during this period of time, the lens, through a geared system, gets" up to speed", a speed which is electronically maintained during the second half of the rotation (because of this, banding, common with spring wound swing lens cameras, is eliminated). As the lens goes through the second half of this rotation, the exposure is made. Light entering through the lens is exposed onto a CURVED FILM PLANE, which results in a panoramic image that is distortion free (it is because of the curved film plane that the image is distortion free, edge to edge). The lens always maintains the same distance from the film plane. Noblex Quality: The body of all Noblex Cameras are cast from a single piece of AIRCRAFT STRENGTH ALUMINUM. Each camera is hand produced from components manufactured to factory specifications. The main rotational drum is GEAR DRIVEN, not spring driven. All Noblex Cameras use NOBLAR "T" (Tessar design: 4 element, 4 grouping) lenses. Resulting images are tack sharp, edge to edge. Panoramic Vision: Human vision is approximately 145 degrees, that is, our entire field of view when we look normally at any object or scene. Noblex Cameras duplicate exactly this field of view. |
